(Mass Effect 2 SPOILER!!!!!!!) Why does Legion use Shepard's Armor To repair himself?

I know that Legion has big hole in his chest because he went to Eden Prime in search of Shepard, but he waited two years to repair himself. When he did repair himself he did it when he found Shepard's old armor. In the game, when you press him on the subject, he simply responds, "No data found." So does anyone have any ideas or theories why he waited so long to repair himself or why use Shepard's armor?

Yes I know Legion was looking for Shepard because he defeated Sovereign, but that still doesn't explain either question.(Mass Effect 2 SPOILER!!!!!!!) Why does Legion use Shepard's Armor To repair himself?
Evolution.

No data found -- there probably was no consensus when it came to using the scraps of Shepard's old armor to repair himself because it was impractical.

Prior to the games' release, Legion was described as being "obsessed" with Shepard -- though this never showed in the game.

Probably did it as a sign of reverence or respect for Shepard, but is unable to describe his motives because they make no sense to him. It's an evolution of their intelligence. Emotion was likely not part of the Geth's original programming, but because Legion is an advanced platform (housing over 1000 Geth programs where the typical Geth platform [body] houses only about 100 unique Geth programs), it's possible that his intelligence is evolving to include things like emotion and attachment.
